It’s been a fantastic year so far, Sam got his final pat on the back in January from the British Exploring Society after three years and four expeditions. He will be carryng on as course director on the Traniee Leader Program
In March Sam was made a member of the UK chapter of the Explorers Club and in February was made Vice Chair.
We were also nominated the best extreme adventure provider at the World Travel Awards for the third year running. So the yearly battle between Sam and Bear Grylls’ PR machine has begun again, needless to say who will win the third year in a row. Enjoy the dancing girls and champagne Bear.
We were also nominated for two awards at the National Adventure Awards, for leadership and best service provider. We’ll find out in March if we have won anything or not.
In May we won the much coveted Shackleton Trophy and in July we won the Ulysses Trust Award for the best cadet expedition of 2014, in The Footsteps Of Lawrence, from Wadi Rum to Mudarrawa in Jordan.
We are getting revved up for the Namib treks and rock art expeditions this summer, Operation Hawk is on the back burner due to the security situation in the Western Desert, as are operations in the Sinai.
In June, Sam, as chie leader, was invited to St James' Palace to a reception held for British Exploring by our Patron-in-Chief, HRH Prince Andrew.
